What are the benefits of building a career in the racking industry?
A good career does not always have to begin with a university degree or years spent in a classroom.
A career in racking installation gives you the opportunity to start in an entry-level role, learn practical skills on the job and progress into positions with greater responsibility and higher pay. At BORACK, Racking Installers follow a structured pathway from Level 1 through to Leading Hand, Supervisor and Site Manager.
What does a career in racking installation involve?
Racking installation is hands-on work completed in warehouses and industrial settings. As part of a Field Crew, you help install, adjust, maintain and dismantle the storage systems businesses use to organise their products and materials.
The work involves tools, equipment, construction plans and teamwork. Physical capability helps, but strength is only one part of the job. Listening, communicating clearly, following safe work methods and paying attention to detail are just as important.
You also get to see what the crew has achieved. Instead of spending every day behind a desk, you can finish a shift or project with a visible result in front of you.
Can you start without a degree or previous experience?
Yes. You don’t need a university degree to begin in an entry-level racking installation role.
At BORACK, Racking Installers start at Level 1. You are not expected to arrive knowing every tool, racking system or site process. Skills can be taught. What matters most to us from the beginning is your attitude — whether you are reliable, willing to learn and ready to work safely as part of the crew.
Experience from other industries can still be valuable. Warehousing, manufacturing, forklift driving, hospitality and retail can all teach you how to handle a full shift, follow a process and work alongside different people.
You will need a White Card before carrying out construction work. Other tickets can be gained as you develop, depending on your role and the equipment you need to use.

Can you build skills while you work?
Much of your development in racking installation happens through practical, on-the-job experience rather than a classroom.
You learn how a professional site operates, how to prepare for a task, how to use equipment correctly and how your work fits into the wider project. As you become more capable, you can take on more complex tasks and build greater confidence on site.
BORACK supports team members who want to grow and upskill. Once you complete your Level 1 assessment, we will help you obtain your scissor lift ticket. After completing your Level 2 assessment, we'll help you arrange your forklift licence. T&Cs apply.

Is there a clear career path?
Yes. At BORACK, the Racking Installer pathway starts at Level 1 and continues through Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 before moving into Leading Hand, Supervisor and Site Manager roles.
Each stage introduces new skills, assessments and responsibilities. You begin with the fundamentals of racking installation, then expand your knowledge of working at heights, equipment operation and supporting a crew.
Progression depends on more than time served. Your practical ability, safe work habits, reliability, communication and readiness to take on more responsibility all matter.
A structured pathway means you can see what you are working towards and what is required to reach the next level.
What can you earn at BORACK?
Pay in the racking industry varies between employers, locations, experience levels and projects. BORACK’s updated hourly rates as of August 2026 are:

- Level 2: $34/hr
- Level 3: $35.50/hr

As you develop your skills and take on more responsibility, your pay can grow with you.
What else can make the work rewarding?
Racking installation suits people who prefer active work, changing projects, and being part of a team.
At BORACK, you work with a diverse team from around the world. Everyone brings different experience to the site, but the crew works towards the same goal: completing the job safely and properly.
There are challenges too. Start times can be early, the work is physical, and some projects are far away. It won’t suit everyone, but if you enjoy practical work and seeing a real result at the end of the day, it could be a good fit for you.
